One Month Apt

Madisyn had her one month apt today. She weighed in at a whopping 9lb 8oz (50%) and measured 22in (75%). It is so exciting to have an average baby. No more 3rd percentiles for the Jewells! MD says she looks great and wants her to stay on Alimentum for at least 4-6months. Only downer is she tested positive for alpha thalassemia but at least we know what to expect. Back to the doc in a month (hopefully not any sooner).

Madisyn is 1 month old!

Madisyn is a really happy baby and is growing so fast. We had a couple rough days after she apparently developed an allergy to the formula she was on (deja vu) but now that she is on the same formula Brayden was switched to, all is well. She is content to lay in her bouncy or boppie but really loves to be held by anyone who is willing. She also loves her brother even when he is up in her face singing or asking "Who's the big brother, who's the big brother?". And to top it off, she is sleeping about 5-6 hours at night!!!

Soccer Player?

This fall Brayden decided he wanted to give soccer a shot. He loved practices but soon decided that there was just too much running during a game. During the games, there was a lot of sitting down on the field and volunteering to take breaks. Despite Brayden deciding that soccer was not his sport, he toughed it out and even scored a goal the last game. Then to add icing to the cake, he got a very cool holographic medal.

Okay, I guess the bow doesn't make this game much fun. Just thought it was neat to see how much they look alike. I love chubby cheek babies!

Welcome Baby Madisyn

Madisyn Grace joined our family on Sept 14th at 1:06pm. She weighed in at 7lb 14oz and measured 21in. She is a healthy, happy baby and is the perfect addition to our family. Maddie's first picture

Summer Updates

This summer has been busy but also pretty relaxing with a lot of family and pool time. A big highlight was Brayden learning to swim in June. He is growing up so fast and is a little fish in the water now. Then we went with Mamaw and Papaw Buxton to watch Walking With The Dinosaurs. So cool! Brayden was a little leery to begin with but as soon as the dinosaurs came out, he was so excited.

And then mid July we went with our good friends, the Kendalls, to Holiday World. The boys had a great time but missed out on the water park due to the record low high at 70 degrees. (A little too chilly for the boys and the parents!)

Spring Flash Backs

It was a crazy spring with lots of activities and planning for our upcoming arrival.

Camping out (or in) with friends in our backyard

And last but definitely not least watching Frances and Brayden get married!!!

Too Smart For His Own Good

So as everyone probably knows by now, I am pregnant and really sick. Well, Gary and I decided not to tell Brayden right away just in case things didn't go well. So for the last few weeks, Brayden has just thought Mommy is really sick. Then Monday, I was spending some time in my new favorite room of the house, the bathroom, when Brayden decided it would be so much fun to count how many times Mommy threw up. After about 10, Brayden started rooting me on, "Way to go Mommy, one more." So after, I joined him on the bed to play some board games. He says to me, "Mommy, I think you are sick because you have a baby in your belly." When I asked him why he would say that, he replied "I think God makes some mommies sick before he gives them babies." And then when asked again why he would think that he replied, "I just know that." Scary that 4 yrs olds can come up with things like that on their own. Then he proceeds to tell me that we need to make an apt with the doctor so they can do an x-ray and see if there are any little bones in my belly. I told him that we would maybe do that in a few months and he said, "how about tomorrow after school." I just love 4 yr olds. It doesn't matter how bad I feel, he can always make me laugh.
